Our Staff

Johann Kim (Lead Pastor) and Grace Kim

Pastor Johann moved to Cincinnati with his wife, Grace, in 1988 to join the Physics faculty of the University of Cincinnati. In 1990, both Pastor Johann and Grace encountered Jesus. Ever since, they have had a great love for His Word and sharing the Good News with people who are far from Christ. In 1999, they began to minister in the low-income neighborhood of Over-the- Rhine, walking the streets and sharing the Gospel.  Since then, they have ministered faithfully in OTR as tent-making, inner-city missionaries. They moved to OTR in 2008 upon completing renovations for the house they bought in 2005 (now known as Vine House). They have two adult sons, Eugene (married to Jean, daughters Evangeline and Emmanuelle) and Michael.

Jason Sato (Associate Pastor)

During a mission trip to OTR in 2007, Pastor Jason received his call to ministry. He graduated from SDSU with a Master’s in Social Work as well as from Westminster Seminary of California with a Master’s of Divinity. He is married to Jessica and has two young children, Jonah and Lily. The Sato’s have a heart to serve in places where many have never heard the Gospel.

PaShawnda Briley (Children's Ministry Coordinator)

PaShawnda received her B.A. in Psychology and Neuroscience at Bryn Mawr College as well as her Masters in Biblical Counseling at Westminster Seminary. After serving at GCC in Philadelphia for many years, PaShawnda moved to Cincinnati in order to serve the OTR community. As Children’s Ministry Coordinator, PaShawnda oversees Living Water’s Sunday School programs as well as the many fellowship and outreach events Living Water hosts for families and children throughout the year.

Jonathan Mendez (Intern)

Jon graduated from UC San Diego in 2016 and committed a year to serve as an AMI missionary intern at Over-the-Rhine Living Water Church starting in 2017. While serving at Kairos Christian Church for 2 years, God has prepared and shaped him to take this step of faith to serve in the inner city ministries of OTR. Jon hopes to reach out to children as well as have more opportunities to share the love of Christ with the community.

Sophia Kang (Intern)

Sophia graduated from USC in 2011. After serving at Tapestry LA Church for over 2 years, she answered the call to apply to be an AMI intern in 2017. Sophia has previously been a short-term missionary in Mexico, Arizona, and Turkey. She wants to see God's glory in OTR and see people redeemed, especially families. She expects to grow a lot this year.

Christine Yun (Staff)

Christine graduated from Boston University in 2013 and served one year as an InterVarsity staff member. After serving two years as a missionary intern in OTR, she is now on staff and also serves as coordinator for Living Water’s after school programs. Christine has a heart for counseling and bringing restoration to children and families.

Elaine Choe (Intern)

Elaine graduated from Boston University in 2017 and studied International Relations and Journalism. She is originally from New York, but moved to Boston for school and attended and served at Symphony Church during her time there. She is currently one of Living Water Church's one-year missionary interns and hopes to see God move in the city in unimaginable ways. She has a heart for college ministry and wants to grow more in evangelism, reaching the unreached.

Chris Koo (Intern)

Chris graduated from UC San Diego in 2012. He has served at Kairos Christian Church for 2 years and during this time God has changed his life dramatically in life-style, values, and faith.  God challenged Chris to take it up another notch during a week-long mission trip to OTR in 2017.  He sensed God deeply unlike anywhere else and was called as a one year intern for 2017-2018.

Isaac Vazquez (Worship Leader)

Isaac started attending Over-the-Rhine Living Water Church in 2010 when he moved from Mexico to Cincinnati to study at God's Bible School and College where he graduated in 2014 with a B.A. in Intercultural Studies and World Missions. Currently, he is pursuing his Masters of Divinity at Cincinnati Bible Seminary. Isaac has a passion for missions and church planting and he believes that one day the people of OTR will sing as one voice of the beauty of Jesus.

Minjun Ha (Intern)

Minjun graduated High School in 2013 and instead of attending college, he joined his father’s business as a plumber. He has been faithfully serving at The Remnant Presbyterian Church in New York prior to God calling him to Over-the-Rhine Living water church. While serving at TRPC and working as a plumber, God has been shaping him and preparing him for what is ahead. Minjun hopes to be able to serve the community and God with all he has and in whatever way he is called to.
